Community Foundations
As part of Big Sky’s commitment to its communities it has established Community Foundations in three regional townships; Hedland (WA), Roxby Downs (SA) and Moranbah (QLD). Big Sky makes a donation of 10% after tax profit from our Service Centres within those regions to these Community Foundations.
The Community Foundations operate with a Board of seven people. These represent Big Sky, local Council and the local community and encourage other local organisations to make financial contributions into the Foundations, to enable a capital base to be built up over a period of time. This enables more funds to be available for investment back into the community and ensures there is a focussed approach to the specific social programs supported and that those programs are in the best interests of the community.
Each Foundation and it's Board operates separately from each other. The Boards oversee corporate governance, manage the process of assessing grant applications and promoting the Foundations and attract more funding.
Current funding areas of interest are projects and activities that focus on:
-
Financial literacy
-
Conservation, environment and heritage
-
Cultural development and the arts
-
Health and welfare (all ages)
-
Community infrastructure and
-
Sports programs and education
Big Sky is, in conjunction with the Community Foundations, dedicated to the ongoing support, financial growth, and development of these remote regions.
