Big Sky is delighted to announce that it has won the mutual industry award for innovation - again! bnext, a brand specifically created for generation Y members was recognised at the 2008 Abacus Convention in Darwin.

Allianz is awarded Best General Insurer for the 2nd year in a row 2007

Big Sky is pleased to announce that Allianz has been awarded Best General Insurer for the second consecutive year at the Australian Banking & Finance Insurance Awards held in Sydney.

Allianz’s award of Best General Insurer is particularly encouraging following Allianz’s recent award of a National Five Star Rating for Car Insurance by independent research body Cannex. A Five Star Rating is awarded to the top three insurers whose motor vehicle policies offer superior value for money for most consumer profiles in most States.

Accepting the award, Allianz Managing Director Mr Terry Towell said, “the focus on delivering superior customer service by Allianz’s 3,300 employees is responsible for the company winning this award”.

Mr Towell also thanked the readers of Australian Banking & Finance Magazine who voted Allianz ‘Number One’.

Mr Towell attributed the company’s market leading performance to Allianz’s attention to its customers’ needs, from offering competitive pricing, to bringing new and innovative products to the market, and Allianz’s no-fuss handling and paying of claims.

Allianz regularly asks its customers one simple question – Would you recommend Allianz to a friend or colleague? Each year, the company poses this question to thousands of direct customers, claimants and business partners, with the resulting feedback being used to guide continuous improvement in Allianz’s products and processes.

Mr Towell stated that, “the insurance business is part of a fast-changing and dynamic environment. Our customers know what they want and they also shop around. We need to be proactive in meeting our customers’ needs and expectations, be it our handling of claims arising from natural catastrophes, the delivery of complex insurance requirements to large corporates, or adapting to changes to the day-to-day purchasing preferences of consumers, such as buying insurance online.”

“It’s the feedback of our customers – positive and negative - and the passion of our employees to deliver a positive customer experience every time, that helps us continue to achieve our objective of providing first class customer service,” Mr Towell said.

Big Sky Credit Union scoops the pool in the 2006 Abacus national awards

Big Sky Credit Union has beaten credit unions and building societies from across Australia to win two national awards for innovation and outstanding leadership.

Big Sky's Visa credit card with cash rewards received the Innovation Award for being a unique solution designed specifically to meet the needs of its members, particularly those living in remote locations. Big Sky’s Marketing Manager, Brian Jacobs, has been named as the Industry’s Emerging Leader, recognising outstanding leadership among those under 35.

In announcing the awards, Abacus General Manager Adrian Lovney, said the fact that Big Sky has won two of the three industry awards says something about the culture of the credit union which has branches in Melbourne, Noble Park, Hastings, Moranbah, Roxby Downs, Kwinana, South Hedland, Bulwer Island and Newman.

Big Sky CEO, Tony Ryan, said the Visa cash rewards scheme is unique to Big Sky. At the end of each month, points earned are automatically converted to cash and credited to a savings account. These funds are then immediately available for members to transact with.

"We developed the program in response to comments from our members that they wanted a loyalty program they could use," Mr Ryan said.

"Many had accumulated frequent flyer points through business, and said that other loyalty schemes relied on the cardholder living or working near participating stores.

"But a significant group of Big Sky's members live in rural and remote areas, so we were determined to find a better way to rewards their loyalty and to give our members a tangible benefit they could use every day."

Allianz awarded Best General Insurer 2006

We at Big Sky are proud to be associated with Allianz, one of the country’s largest general insurers.

Allianz Australia has been awarded Best General Insurer 2006 at the Australian Banking & Finance Insurance Awards held in Sydney. Accepting the award on behalf of Allianz was Mr Niran Peiris, the company’s Chief Financial Officer.

Mr. Peiris explained that the customer service efforts of Allianz’s 3000 employees had contributed to the company receiving this award. He also thanked the readers of Australian Banking & Finance Magazine who voted Allianz Number One.

“At Allianz, we strive to be the best, but we know we can always be better tomorrow than we are today,“ said Mr. Peiris.

As part of its Customer Focus Initiative, Allianz Australia regularly asks its customers one simple question – Would you recommend Allianz to a family member, friend or colleague? In the past twelve months the company asked that question to approximately 5,700 direct customers; 2,100 claimants and 3,300 business partners. The feedback enables Allianz to pinpoint factors that deliver a competitive advantage through superior customer service, as well as where improvements can be made.

“It’s the feedback of our customers - advocates and detractors - and the passion of our employees to deliver a positive customer experience every time, that helps us continue to achieve our objective of providing first class customer service,” he said.

The Customer Focus Initiative (CFI) is part of a global program being systematically implemented throughout the 70 countries in which the Allianz Group operates. CFI is complemented by other strategic initiatives aimed at ensuring that best practice products, processes and services are shared and replicated throughout all Allianz companies.

Allianz Australia achieved growth of 7 percent in 2005 and 5 percent to date in 2006, which compares favourably in an insurance market characterised by soft premiums and average growth of about 2 percent.
